The Blackfalds Bulldogs came up short in preseason action Saturday night against the visiting Brooks Bandits.

The Bandits improved their BCHL exhibition record to 4-0, while the Bulldogs fell to 1-3.

Blackfalds got off to a hot start going up 2-0 in the first with goals by Brayden Gourley and Jayden Joly (power play).

Liam Fitzpatrick would score shorthanded at 12:29 of the first to get Brooks on the board. Travis Verbeek would add a power play marker late in the frame to tie the game up at two heading into the first intermission.

The Bandits took the lead early in the second on Verbeek's second of the night. Josh Wiebe would put Brooks up by a pair midway through the period.

The Bandits peppered Bulldogs goaltender Mikkel Christensen with 41 shots.

Wolf Giles' second goal of the preseason cut the lead to 4-3 five minutes into the final period, however, Nathan Free restored Brooks' two-goal lead at 11:14.

The Bulldogs and Bandits would each add two more goals before the final whistle. Jamie Darlison and Ryan Castle would score for Blackfalds, while Parker Lalonde and Will Lutic found the back of the net for Brooks.

The Bandits outshot Blackfalds 42-25. The Bulldogs finished the game 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Bandits went 1-for-3.

Mikkel Christensen stopped 35 of the 41 Brooks shots he faced.

The Bulldogs play their final preseason game at home Tuesday night at 7 p.m. against the Okotoks Oilers.
