The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires opened their pre-season schedule with two blowout wins over the Notre Dame Hounds.

Jace Egland had a hat trick and added three assists for a six-point night in Swift Current's 10-1 over the Hounds in Wilcox on Saturday. Wesley Olson had a five-point effort with two goals and three assists, Connor Rieger had a goal and three helpers and Nate Silbernagel added a goal and two assists. Kasey Gleim, Carter Schmidt and Jackson Squires also scored and Tate Leshures stopped 26 shots in the Legionnaires net.

The Legionnaires followed up with a 9-1 victory on home ice Sunday night with Egland scoring two goals and three assists for five points and Olson getting a goal and four helpers for five points as well. Gleim and Sam Kirwan had two goals each and Silbernagel and Mason Fauser also scored. Evan Hutcheson made 30 saves in the win.

The Legionnaires continue pre-season play on Tuesday night when they host the Battlefords Stars at Innovationplex. The regular season opens on September 29 when the Legionnaires host Moose Jaw.

In female U18 AAA hockey, Rayna Hennie scored twice and added two assists, and Madden Rublee and Sienna Watson added goals as the Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats picked up a 4-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday in the Keystone City. Reese Kampen scored for Swift Current in a 1-1 tie with Brandon on Sunday.
