The Blackfalds Bulldogs wrapped up their first preseason in the BCHL on a winning note.

The Bulldogs held on to beat the Okotoks Oilers by a score of 2-1 in front of 166 fans at the Eagle Builders Centre.

Brayden Gourley opened up the scoring for Blackfalds on the power play midway through the second period.

Wolf Giles would net the eventual game-winner, putting the Bulldogs up 2-0 five minutes into the third.

Kade Duell scored the lone goal for Okotoks at the 8:17 mark of the final frame.

Waylon Esche stopped 23 of 24 shots for Blackfalds, who outshot the Oilers 33-24.

The Bulldogs ended the night 1-for-3 on the power play. Okotoks was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Blackfalds will kick off the regular season Friday night against Sherwood Park at the Eagle Builders Centre. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
