The Swift Current Museum will soon welcome a captivating military exhibition, The Wounded, which showcases the mental and physical journey of today's veterans.

The Wounded, from the Canadian War Museum in cooperation with the Legion Magazine, will be opening in Swift Current on Monday, October 7.

Melissa Shaw, general manager of cultural and aquatic services at the Swift Current Museum, noted that the exhibition will be geared more towards adults and older children, as they will have to be able to read.

"It is an exhibition of photojournalism by Stephen J. Thorne, he developed 18 portraits of Canadian veterans who served in Afghanistan," she explained. "The images illustrate their stories of loss, rehabilitation, and hope for their future."

The exhibition will be on display during Remembrance Day and remain in Swift Current until January 5.

"We really like to bring in different exhibits that highlight the importance of Remembrance Day, so we try to plan our fall exhibits around that," said Shaw. "This one tells the stories of not only the injuries that happened during war but the recovery and the process that comes afterwards.

"The pictures are all black and white but they're very powerful."

Everyone is welcome to check out the exhibition, the museum is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
