Parts of southwestern Saskatchewan have experienced some wild severe weather from the ongoing storm to this point with more on tap.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a tornado warning last night for a small section of the southwest that included Neville, Pambrun, and Vanguard.

"Our radar was indicating a very severe thunderstorm in the area that could produce a tornado," said Christy Climenhaga, a scientist with Environment and Climate Change Canada. "Not seeing any reports of funnels or touchdowns."

The Ponteix area was one of a few across the province hit with hail, with quarter-sized falling around 6 p.m. Heavy rainfalls in the town also caused localized flooding.

"We've already seen 30-40 millimetres of rain in that area of Saskatchewan and expecting another about 20 to upwards of 50 millimetres as storms progress in the area," she said.

As of 11 a.m. Swift Current had received 23.5 millimetres of precipitation in the last 24 hours with max wind gusts topping out at 70 km/hr.
