The Town of Rocky Mountain House will not hold a by-election to fill the position of mayor.
Following the resignation of Debbie Baich in August, the position was left vacant, and Deputy Mayor Marley Capraro was appointed as acting mayor.
The town council agreed to request a by-election extension from the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Ric McIver.
On Sept. 18, McIver granted council’s request to defer filling the vacancy until the next general municipal election scheduled for Oct. 20, 2025.
