Over the weekend, the Estevan Police Service assisted the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit in an ongoing investigation, resulting in a 20-year-old Estevan male being charged with child pornography-related offences.
The investigation led to the man being charged with possession of child pornography, make available child pornography, invitation to sexual touching, and make available sexually explicit material to a person believed to be under 13 years old. The man was released with several conditions. The accused will be in front of a Justice of the Peace for a future court date. The identity of the 20-year-old male was not released.
The Estevan Police Service had a busy weekend responding to 58 calls, including driving offences, fraud, and uttering threats.
A 36-year-old Winnipeg female was handed a 21-day driving suspension and her vehicle impounded for seven days after testing positive for cocaine while driving. Authorities are waiting for the results of a blood test to charge the individual.
EPS also responded to a vehicle driving erratically in Estevan. The 31-year-old male driver tested positive for THC in their system. As a result, the driver was given a 3-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded. Charges are pending following a blood test.
A local business reported someone handing out counterfeit $100 bills. The EPS are investigating the matter.
