Monday night saw the Portage and District Terriers organization host their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Stride Place.

The meeting focused on the replacement of several resigning board members, along with the release of their financial statement for the year. Re-elected President Dave Koroscil outlines how the organization felt about the season.

"Overall, I think we're pretty happy with the way last year went. It would've been nicer to get a little deeper in the playoffs, but when you lose to the eventual league champions, you knew you were in tough for that. All in all, the numbers show that we did have a deficit last year, but having said that, we paid off the $40,000 CEBA loan that was issued during the COVID-19 pandemic. We're debt-free now, so that's an encouraging note for the Terrier organization moving forward."

In total, the meeting announced a total deficit of $53,393, which also included the writing off of bad debt, which was money owed that the team would never receive.

The board also took on three new members, with other members stepping back from the board after several years of service. In the President's report, Koroscil thanked Brad and Linda Gannon and Derek Blight for their work with the board and announced the names of those joining for this season as well.

"It's quite encouraging with the three names that came forward. We've got Brad McDonald, who has billeted Terriers in the past, so he knows and has dealt with the organization in the past. Tanner Jago, who was the team captain during the RBC Cup Championship year; an alumni member and he brings some financial acumen to the board as he works in the financial industry," Koroscil continues. "And of course, Ryan Simpson has been on the board previously, so a lot of knowledge with the team, a former voice of the team, so we're very happy with the three names and what they bring forward to the organization."

Koroscil also highlights that the team has several big events and plans coming up, which will be announced later. You will be able to find those announcements on the Terriers social media pages.
