Temperatures are feeling a lot closer to fall this week following a sharp drop in temperatures caused by a system which crashed into the southeast on Monday.
That led to temperatures dropping so low that a frost advisory was issued, with more nights this week looking like possible starts to the frost season.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins says that though it feels colder than usual we're actually fairly normal temperature-wise for this time of year.
"Relatively speaking, it's much colder temperatures than we've been seeing. However, it's actually quite normal for this time of year. So we're going to see highs for the remainder of the week in the mid-teens. Friday looks to be a little bit warmer, with highs in the low 20s, but for this point of the year, it's actually pretty reasonable. Temperatures normal around high of 16 and a low plus one."
After Monday's frost advisory, there'll be another chance of that with temperatures dropping below zero later this week.
"We're going to see lows dipping around the 0° mark, but the best chance or the next time that we're going to see the biggest risk of frost will be overnight Thursday into Friday," said Desjardins. "So we are forecasting temperatures to dip below so that will be our next big chance of frost."
Desjardins advises people to watch out for plants over the next few days as the frost is getting ready to strike.
"We've had a pretty long growing season. This is pretty late in the year to have our first couple of chances of frost, but just make sure you cover your plants. If there's any late gardening you need to do, I would suggest pulling that out this week because we are going to see more seasonable temperatures moving forward."
