Week 5 of the high school football season gets underway on Thursday.
The Watrous Wildcats will head to Clavet for another shot at the Cougars. Earlier this season in a rematch from last year’s provincial final, Clavet emerged from Watrous with a 64-28 victory.
Heading into this week’s action, the Wildcats (2-1) are in second spot in the conference, with the Cougars in first place. Watrous is coming off a bye week, with their last game on September 20th.
The Wakaw Warriors are also returning to action after a bye week, as they will travel Hague to square off with the Panthers. This will be a rematch of the season opener for both squads, with Wakaw prevailing 44-30.
Through the first three games, the Warriors remain perfect (3-0) and sit on top of the conference standings. Hague is in third spot (1-2). Both teams last played on September 19th.
In Friday’s action, the Humboldt (HCI) Mohawks visit the Delisle Rebels. The two teams met in an entertaining contest with the Rebels picking up the 56-42 victory at Glenn Hall Park.
The Mohawks (2-2) are tied for second spot in the conference standings, with the Rebels (4-0) alone in first place.
In six-man action, the Lanigan Lazers host the Ituna Trojans. Lanigan (0-4) is still seeking their first win of the season, while Ituna (1-3) occupies third place. Both teams are coming off of losses in last week’s action.
The St. Brieux Crusaders (3-0) will try to keep their undefeated season intact as they host the Rosthern Community. St. Brieux is coming off a 54-24 victory in Carrot River. Rosthern Community School (0-3) is searching for their first win of the year.
The Viscount Vikings will make the long trek to Preeceville to meet the Panthers. Viscount is coming off an 82-6 win over Briercrest Christian Academy. The Vikings (3-0) are tied with Hanley for the top spot in the conference.
Wynyard (3-1) is off this week and are in second place in the standings.
