After a weeklong break the Humboldt Broncos will be back on the ice tonight in Kindersley against the Klippers.

Last Friday, the Broncos suffered their first loss of the season with a 6-2 loss to the Yorkton Terriers.

Head Coach Brayden Klimosko said it was good for the team to have extended time at practice before returning to action.

“I think we needed some days off to be honest, get back to work and know what we have to do to get better and yeah it wasn’t our best obviously, it was good for us to kind of recharge and know what we have to do this weekend.”

Reflecting on the first loss, Klimosko felt the Broncos took the Terriers lightly.

“I think it was one of those where we just thought that it was going to be easy.”

Klimosko added, “there’s a lot of teams in this league that want to come after us and want to beat us and it showed, they were ready, and we weren’t and that’s a good lesson for us.”

After three games over the first two weeks of the 2024/25 campaign, the Broncos will be busy with three games over the next three days. Humboldt and Kindersley will complete the home and home set at the Elgar Petersen Arena on Saturday, and then the Broncos will head to Yorkton on Sunday for a rematch with the Terriers.

Klimosko is looking forward to entering the routine of the regular season.

“You prepare that it’s going to be a grind, and you’re going to use your whole roster and you’re trying to get through it that way.”

He expects the players to be ready when called upon.

“Everyone should be ready to go, guys who were sitting lots early, now have a chance to be a big part of it.”

The Klippers are coming off a split last weekend with a 4-2 win over Nipawin and like the Broncos were defeated by Yorkton 5-2.

Coverage for tonight’s game on Bolt FM begins at 7:15, opening faceoff at 7:30.
