The Red Deer Rebels picked up their third straight win over the Medicine Hat Tigers Friday night with a 6-3 victory at Peavey Mart Centrium. With the win, Red Deer improved their record to 3-0-1-0 on the season, the only team in the WHL without a regulation loss. Medicine Hat falls to 1-3-0-0.

The Rebels opened the scoring early when Matthew Gard found the back of the net from Trae Wilke at the 4:36 mark of the first.

Carson Birnie made it 2-0 putting home a rebound for a power play goal with less than five minutes left in the first.

Gard would pick up his second of the night early in the second to give the Rebels a 3-0 lead. Jack Bousquet picked up the lone assist in his first WHL game.

The Tigers got on the board when Bryce Pickford's wrist shot found the back of the net but Red Deer would rebound with Birnie's second of the night to make it 4-1 with another power play goal.

This led to Ethan McCallum replacing Jordan Switzer in net for Medicine Hat.

Medicine Hat inched closer when Jonas Woo's point shot found a way through traffic. Less than a minute later, Jhett Larson deposited a rebound to give Red Deer a 5-2 lead.

Wilke gave the Rebels a 6-2 lead with his first of the season before the second period would come to a close.

Pickford would add a power play goal for Medicine Hat for his second of the game late in the third to make the score 6-3. Rebels goaltender Chase Wutzke made 18 of his 46 saves in the third period.

Medicine Hat outshot Red Deer 49-28. The Tigers were 1-for-5 on the power play, while Red Deer was 2-for-7 with the man-advantage.

Red Deer is back on the ice tonight at the Peavey Mart Centrium taking on the Calgary Hitmen starting at 7 p.m.
