The Saskatchewan Cattlemen's Association will begin their next round of fall district meetings this week.
The next meeting is scheduled for tomorrow in Melfort from 1 til 5 at the Kerry Vicker Centre.
CEO Grant McLellan says it's a great opportunity for producers to find out what's going on in the industry, and give their input on the focus of the organization.
He says among the topics they are looking to get input on is the proposed 75 cent increase in the Provincial portion of the checkoff, whether the organization should look at a potential a name change, and more.
The issue around a potential name change is something that has come up over the last few years mainly in discussions or lobbying efforts with politicians or bureaucrats in Ottawa as they tend to use the name as a distraction moving the emphasis off issues being raised by the SCA.
During the first round of meetings, SCA members talked about the importance of the organization and the need to increase the funding, there was also strong opposition to changing the organization's name.
Other meeting locations include Weyburn (4:30-9 pm) on October 15th, Clavet (4:30-9 pm) at the LFCE on October 18th, October 21st at the Kenosee Inn (1:30 til 5), and in Assiniboia on October 22nd (4:30 to 9 pm) at the Prince of Wales Centre.
