Week 5 of the high school football season around the area is in the books.
On Thursday, Watrous was defeated by Clavet 60-48 in a night game. With the loss, the Wildcats record drops down to 2-2, with both losses coming at the hands of Clavet. Watrous will return to action on Thursday with a home game against Assiniboia.
In Friday’s action, the Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) Mohawks were defeated by the Delisle Rebels 34-15. The Mohawks fell into third place with the loss to the Rebels. Humboldt will wrap up the regular season Friday when they host John Paul II at Glenn Hall Park.
The St. Brieux Crusaders kept their perfect season alive with a 77-8 win over Rosthern Community School. With the win, the Crusaders advance to the conference championship that will be played in St. Brieux where they will meet Carrot River. The winner will host a provincial quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, October 26.
The Viscount Vikings picked up a 44-1 road victory against the Preeceville Panthers. The Vikings are tied for first place in the conference standings with Hanley. The two teams will meet in a first-place showdown on Thursday.
