EPs reported a week's worth of calls this afternoon, looking back at the first week of October.

The Estevan Police Service has released a series of updates on police work in the area over the past week in Estevan.

October 2

EPS was at the scene of a disturbance at a residence on the south side of the city. Members spoke to the people involved and defused the situation, with the Police and Crisis Team engaging individuals with support services.

A report came in of an unoccupied building which appeared to be insecure. Upon investigation, it was determined a break-and-enter had occurred with damage to the interior of the building. The EPS's investigation is ongoing with city staff looking to talk with the owner of the building about the damage.

Another report was received of a theft in the city's core, with the matter still under investigation. 

An Estevan male was arrested by police on an outstanding warrant from the Carlyle RCMP for impaired driving. The individual was released with a future court date at the Carlyle Provincial Court.

A hillside residence reported mischief and a dispute between a number of neighbours. Similar situations have been reported recently involving the same individuals with eps members working with those involved to mediate a resolution.

The police received a report from the Westview area of the city about a dog which attempted to bite an individual. EPS continues to investigate and the issue has been referred to the Estevan Bylaw Enforcement Officer.

EPS received a report of an assault, though they found that the occurrence was a disagreement which had no physical contact. Members helped to mediate the situation.

A south-end apartment building saw a police presence as a report was received of several tenants disturbing one another. Each individual received a warning under the Estevan Noise Bylaw.

October 3

A 50-year-old Estevan male was arrested for breaching his Conditional Sentence Order. EPS lodged him in cells and subsequently remanded him for a show cause hearing on October 7.

October 4

A 51-year-old female was arrested by EPS for theft under $5000. The original incident took place the day before when a stroller was taken from in front of a residence downtown. EPS recovered the property with the female subject released to speak to the charge at a future court date.

Four separate calls for service were received by EPS for a 34-year-old Estevan female who was reportedly acting suspiciously. Following a few interactions with members, they transported the female to St. Joseph’s Hospital for assessment.

A report was received by police of a group of teens in the Hillside area knocking on residence windows and doors. Members attended and patrolled the area but were unable to locate the group. Following high visibility patrols in the area, no further reports were made.

Calls of suspicious activity came in during the day due to high winds near a residence in the south end of the city. Police attended and found that nothing criminal was occurring.

October 5

Members received a report of an individual receiving threatening telephone calls from a group of people. Police continue to investigate the matter.

A report came in of an unwanted guest at a Hillside residence. After a female was transported to her residence no further action was required.

The same day members received a second report of an unwanted guest in a residence. This time the 51-year-old male was found to be grossly intoxicated, being arrested and lodged in cells until sober.

October 6

A female reported a lost Apple Airbud to EPS, which was located and recovered with assistance from her and her friends.

Police conducted a traffic stop which resulted in a 65-year-old driver being issued a 3-day suspension for their driver's license for operating a vehicle after having consumed cannabis.

EPS received a trespass/break-and-enter complaint, still under investigation. 

Police received a report of a white Dodge truck which was reported to be driving around Peterson Drive at a high rate of speed.  Members were unable to locate the vehicle when they attended the scene.

Members received a report of mischief to property which is still under investigation.
