UPDATE 10/09/2024: We have been made aware that the call for nominations ends tonight, October 9, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at the City Clerk's office. Candidates have 24 hours from its closing to withdraw from the race, otherwise they'll officially be part of the ballot. We sincerely apologize for the inaccuracy. The quote has been removed and the article has been fixed.
With over a month left before the Estevan Civic Elections, the races are heating up. With prospective candidates submitting their papers to get onto the ballot, City Clerk Judy Pilloud has a reminder for anyone still considering running.
Application for candidates wishing to be a part of this year's Civic Election would need to submit their nomination paperwork to the City Clerk's office by 4:00pm tonight, October 9, 2024, in order to be added onto the ballot. After nominations close, candidates have 24 hours to withdraw their applications. Otherwise, their name will be added to the ballot.
She noted that nominations are trickling into her office and that most electoral races have candidates running in them. However, there's one part of the ballot that has yet seen any names. "Nominations are going well. We have candidates in all categories except no one has filed for the Holy Family Roman Catholic School Division. So if anybody is interested, please come out, get nomination forms and submit them because they really need some candidates."
Once the ballot has been finalized, Pilloud said that dates for advance polling and election outreach to the hospital and senior-assisted care homes will be announced. Mail-in voting will also come back for this election cycle. City Hall is urging the public to fill out their mail-in ballot applications soon, as submissions must be received before 4:00 p.m. on October 29.
