The Red Deer Rebels suffered their third straight loss Saturday afternoon, falling 5-1 to the Edmonton Oil Kings at Rogers Place.

Edmonton scored its first goal just past the four-minute mark and took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

Red Deer replaced starting goaltender Chase Wutzke with Rhett Stoesser in between periods.

The Oil Kings added two more in the second to make it 5-0.

Hunter Mayo scored his third of the season and the lone goal for Red Deer 1:45 into the third.

Edmonton outshot Red Deer 30-29 and was 1-for-4 on the power play while Red Deer was 0-for-3. Wutzke allowed 3 goals on 12 shots in the first period, while Stoesser stopped 16 of 18 in the final two periods.

Red Deer's record falls to 4-3-1-0 with the loss, while Edmonton improved to 2-3-0-1. The two teams will meet again next Sunday at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

Next up, the Rebels visit the Calgary Hitmen this Wednesday, October 15 at 7 p.m.
