The high school football regular season wrapped up on Friday with several southwest schools in playoff contention this fall.

In 9-man football, the Shaunavon Shadows fell 53-27 to the Lumsden Devils at home on Friday in a battle of unbeaten teams on the final week of the regular season. In other action on Friday, the Gull Lake Lions dropped a 63-28 decision to Vanier Collegiate while the Maple Creek Redmen defeated Notre Dame 44-14 on Thursday. Second-place Shaunavon will host Vanier in the conference semi-final on October 18 while the Redmen will travel to Lumsden for their semi-final matchup.

The Swift Current Comp High School Colts finished in sixth place in the 12-man rural league and will host Estevan in the Tier II semi-final on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The winning team will face Peacock Collegiate in the final on October 26 in Moose Jaw.
