Another week of high school football is in the books, with some teams now preparing for important playoff games while others have some have one more week of regular season action.
In nine-man football, the Humboldt Collegiate Institute Mohawks secured home field advantage for their playoff game against North Battleford (John Paul II) with a dominating 54-10 victory. Both teams finished the year with 3-3 records and split their two head-to-head matchups. The Mohawks have the tiebreaker since they had the better point differential in the two matchups against North Battleford (87-48).
The playoff game will take place on Saturday at Glenn Hall Park with a 1:00 kickoff. The winner will advance to the provincial quarterfinals.
The Wakaw Warriors kept the undefeated intact with a 58-38 win over the Crieghton Kodiaks. Wakaw will finish off with a road game in Shellbrook.
The Watrous Wildcats picked up a 54-12 victory over the Assiniboia Rockets. Watrous will finish second place in their conference. They finish off the regular season with a home game against Davidson.
The Wynyard Bears were defeated by the Southey Screaming Eagles 40-20. The loss drops Wynyard’s record to 3-2. They will finish off the regular season with a home game against Ituna.
The St. Brieux Crusaders locked up a conference title with a 58-13 win over the Carrot River Wildcats. St. Brieux will host a provincial quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, October 26.
The Viscount Vikings suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Hanley Sabers 63-28. They will meet Lemberg in a playoff game on Thursday.
