The Estevan Bruins have been on a hotter streak since the start of the season, with the team avoiding a regulation loss throughout their games last week.
That included a 5-3 win against Humboldt on Wednesday, a 4-3 shootout loss to the Kindersley Klippers on Friday, and a comeback win against the Klippers Saturday 4-2.
The team lost the last time they went to overtime and head coach Jason Tatarnic says he's seeing improvement from he team.
"We thought we had the go-ahead goal with about six minutes left in the third period. I thought it was a good goal, I watched the video, and I still think it's a good goal, but that's not where the call went. So nothing you can do about it. Overtime solved nothing even though we were shorthanded in the overtime for a full 2 minutes."
While a win on Saturday did ease the sting of a shootout loss, Tatarnic says they still have some work to do on discipline.
"We got into penalty trouble again, we had seven penalties on Friday and then we had another seven penalties on Saturday, so you know each game you put 14 minutes shorthand up. So we had two power plays each game, so it makes it tough. We have a little bit smarter and I thought we could have a few more calls our way too, but you know, sometimes referees don't have all the angles and you know that's the way it goes.
"But we got to be a little bit smarter. I think five on five, we're pretty happy where we are and even with our special teams, we're happy with them right now and they're clicking. I really like the direction of the team, right now.
Now the Estevan Bruins are back at home, facing off against the Yorton Terriers for the first time this season.
"There's been quite a bit of talk with them and they've had a great start to this season and they have a six and two record. They seem to be scoring lots of goals, so you know we're going to have to be defensively aware, and we hear they skate pretty good. We're going to have to play a real solid game on Wednesday and as we know, we're facing a really good hockey team."
