Canada Border Services Agency made a big stop at North Portal earlier this week with officers finding multiple undeclared items leading to a penalty.
In a social media post, the CBSA showed off the full group of seized items from the stop, including:
- 2 undeclared loaded pistols
- a prohibited rifle
- ammunition
- alcohol
- cigarettes
In total the traveller paid $2,000 in penalty costs.
The CBSA reminds people that "All travellers must declare any firearms in their possession when they enter Canada. Anyone who does not declare them upon arrival can face prosecution and the firearms, and the vehicle used to carry them, may be seized. Non-declaration of firearms and other prohibited goods can result in penalties and/or criminal charges. Foreign nationals who have been convicted of a crime may be refused entry into Canada."
