The Saskatchewan NDP presented three former Saskatchewan Party members at a news conference on Thursday who say they are endorsing the NDP leader as the next Premier of Saskatchewan.
Carla Beck was joined by Mark Docherty, former Sask. Party Speaker of the House and MLA for Regina Coronation Park for more than a decade, Ian Hanna, speechwriter and senior political adviser to Sask. Party Premier Brad Wall and Glen Hart, former Sask. Party MLA who served Last Mountain Touchwood for 21 years.
In a news release Ian Hanna said he has been asked why he changed allegiance. Hanna says, ” I didn’t leave the Saskatchewan Party, the Saskatchewan Party left me. I watched for years as the Saskatchewan Party became more dogmatic, more insular and less interested in serving the people of this province.”
Meanwhile, Hart said people are tired of Scott Moe and the Sask. Party and the games they play. Docherty says, “The Sask. Party has lost their way. They don’t understand that you’re here to serve – and that it’s not their money, it’s the people’s money.”
The Saskatchewan NDP also unveiled leaked memos from health care staff in Moose Jaw which show that on five days in July and three days in August there were no available medical radiation technologists. Consequently the memo says, “All patients requiring CT services will need to be sent to Regina General Hospital for imaging,” and, “Stroke and Trauma patients will to be bypassed from the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital to the Regina General Hospital.”
