The Blackfalds Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead into the third period Friday night but couldn't hold on as the Sherwood Park Crusaders squeaked out a 4-3 win at Eagle Builders Centre.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs record to 1-9 on the season. The Crusaders occupy third spot in the Interior East Division with a 7-3 record.

Robin Benoit opened the scoring for the Crusaders on the power play at 4:15 of the first with his fifth of the season.

The Bulldogs would tie the game a few minutes later when Luke Dahlen found the back of the net.

Tyler Chiovetti scored his third of the season on the power play at 6:13 of the second to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. Aidan Castle would also score his third of the year a few minutes later to put the home side up 3-1.

Matthew Frost cut the lead to 3-2 before the end of the period.

The Crusaders would tie the game early in the third and take the lead on the power play with goals by Cooper Sharp and Kale Dach respectively.

The Bulldogs finished the night 1-for-7 on the power play while the Crusaders were 2-for-3. Blackfalds outshot Sherwood Park 43-38.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a matchup with the Spruce Grove Saints at Eagle Builders Centre on Oct. 25 in the Hockey Fights Cancer game at 7 p.m.
