Driving could be challenging to start the week as Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for much of Central Alberta with the first significant snowfall of the season expected on Monday.
Snow is expected to begin Monday morning in the Calgary area and along the Highway 2 corridor, and move east through the day.
A brief period of rain is possible Monday morning before precipitation changes over to snow. This may result in slippery travel conditions.
A few centimetres of snow may stick to the ground before the snow begins to taper off Monday night.
The daytime high for Monday is around freezing or just above.
Motorists are cautioned to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.
