Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Lacombe & District recently wrapped up its 40 Mentors in 40 Days Campaign.

Executive Director Brianna Berthiaume says they had 34 volunteer inquiries this year.

"Those inquiries, they're all taking the next steps to make that positive change and make that difference. We're really excited," she commented.

BBBS also held its first annual Rubber Duck Drop Fundraiser September 28 in Blackfalds, raising $6,000.

"We wanted to do something that was very community-driven," said Berthiaume. "We had a huge turnout of families and people. It was a fun day."

The annual Festival of Wreaths is back for its 14th year, with local businesses and organizations decorating festive wreaths which will be auctioned off in support of BBBS.

The wreaths will be displayed at the Lacombe Memorial Centre and at the Abbey Centre in Blackfalds by November 22, with the online auction wrapping up on December 16.

All proceeds from the event go directly to support mentoring programs. In 2024, BBBS supported over 430 mentoring relationships. Click here to become a mentor.
