The Estevan Eagle Sky Bruins have received an extra win on their record as the SJHL has made the Yorkton Terriers forfeit some of their wins.
That's because their games on October 11th, 16th and 18th, saw the use of an ineligible player during the match.
The SJHL provided the following passage of its Rules and Regulations.
"INELIGIBLE PLAYERS"
4.1 No player shall be permitted to participate in a League game unless he appears on that team’s player-protected lists. Notification of Protected Players Lists, Certified Players and Affiliated Players are to be completed through the electronic registration process. In addition to the right of the Commissioner to forfeit a game for the use of an ineligible player, the offending team will receive a mandatory fine of four hundred and 50 dollars ($450)."
The other two teams which will receive points are the Nipawin Hawks, who played on the 11th, and the Melville Millionaires, who played on the 18th.
These updated standings put the Bruins and the Terriers next to each other on the standings, both with ten points each.
The SJHL specified what would happen in the case of a tie-breaking scenario at the end of the season:
"For all games that Yorkton used an ineligible player, they will have their team goals reduced to zero (0). All goals scored against Yorkton will remain as is. The non-offending team will have their total Goals Against reduced by the number of goals that were scored against them during that game."
"In the case where the opposing team did not score a goal, one will be added to their total to make the score 1-0. It will not be awarded to any specific player. All individual player stats will remain as is. Only team stats are changed."
