The latest Downtown Revitalization Update is showing that the intersections could soon be opened back up to the public.
In the update provided by ASL Paving's Jesse Gerhardt, he starts with access and traffic accommodation with some updates on that progress.
Sidewalks are still accessible except in the case where StrataCell replacement is ongoing. The replacement will be ongoing through the 1100 block before the crews shut down for the season.
Fencing has been set up with detours available on most streets.
With the 11th Avenue and 4th Street intersection opening, Gerhardt says that they're currently planning on having the 12th and 13th avenues opened in the second week of November.
This would be behind schedule according to the city's timeline, which marked the cleanup & demobilization ending on November 4th.
The intersection at 13th Avenue is expected to be available on a base surface, pending direction from SaskEnergy for a gas line.
Gerhardt also discussed the rest of the sectors for the remaining construction:
Surfacing
The granular road structure on the 1200 block is almost done, with the remaining cure and asphalt installation coming after that. Concrete curbs will also be installed by the end of the week.
Asphalt installation will commence this week, completing the 1100 block and starting the 1200 block.
The city states that the final lift of asphalt will be planned for 2025.
Sanitary Sewer & Storm Sewer
Both sewer systems have had their replacements completed across the project.
Water Services
Temporary water services are being removed on the 1100 block.
Electrical
The removal of lights along the 1100 and 1200 blocks has been finalized along with trenching through intersections.
Light pole bases have been positioned on the 1100 block, with conduits installed up to the StrataCell limits.
Curbing and Sidewalks
Curbs are expected to be installed up to the 13th Avenue and 4th Street intersection by the end of the week.
Landscaping and Furnishings
Paving stones and StrataCells are being installed on the 1100 block, continuing on to the 12th and 4th intersection as weather permits.
Environmental Updates:
All contamination has been removed by crews working on the site.
