The Red Deer RCMP and Red Deer Community Peace Officers charged a 32-year-old resident of Red Deer for drug trafficking and firearm offences.

On Sept. 21, at approximately 5:25 p.m., the Red Deer RCMP assisted Red Deer Community Peace Officers in arresting an individual who fled during a traffic stop.  

The suspect left behind a satchel and a backpack.   

A firearm was located inside the satchel, and approximately 634 grams of Fentanyl and other items consistent with drug trafficking were located inside the backpack.  

 As a result of their investigation, RCMP arrested Corim Conway, a 32-year-old resident of Red Deer.  

 He has been charged with the following offences:  

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking  

  • Careless use/storage of a firearm  

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose  

  • Carrying a concealed weapon  

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm  

  • Possession of a loaded firearm  

  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm  

  • Possession of a firearm with altered serial number  

  • Possession of a weapon contrary to an order x7  

  • Failure to comply with release order x 4  

  • Driving while prohibited  

Conway was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. His court appearance was on Oct. 3, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
