Tonight, the Estevan Chamber of Commerce will let residents hear from the candidates in the provincial election race for the Estevan-Big Muddy constituency.
That forum is being held at the Estevan Legion Hall, with the forum beginning at 7 p.m.
Vice President Tania Andrist talks about why they want to bring out the community.
"Our community is going to be going to the polls and regularly during election time, the Chamber will hold nonpartisan events and all candidates forums for community members to learn a little bit more about what the candidate's positions are on stances or on subjects pertaining to the community of whether it's a provincial election or whether it's a civic election, and this year, of course, we have two happening at pretty much the same time."
The forums consist of a number of questions posed by a panel of speakers, both made by those speakers and taken from the community.
Estevan Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Merrisa Scarlett says that those will cover a wide selection of issues important to the Estevan area.
"The focus was definitely on economic development and those opportunities that could be provided in our area, that was definitely a focus of a couple. Then there were some just about the current issues going on, some of the social issues also happening like with doctor and teacher retention."
Both Scarlett and Andrist say they're looking forward to the forum, with this being Scarlett's first in the role of executive director.
Andrist says that they'll also have the community out for the municipal election in November.
"Whether it's the provincial election or the civic election now, our Civic Candidates Forum is happening on November 6th and it will run much the same as the provincial Election Forum. Candidates will appear and have an opportunity to share their platform, and then there'll be some questions from a moderator."
