Due to gaps in physician coverage, the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre Emergency Department (ED) is temporarily closed today (Oct. 29) from 4 p.m. until Oct. 30 at 8 a.m.
The ED was scheduled to be closed all day, however some physician coverage has since been identified.
During temporary closures, nursing staff are on-site to provide triage and assessments. Patients will be referred to alternative care options depending on their condition.
EMS will transport patients requiring emergency care to nearby facilities, including Drumheller Health Centre, Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre, St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose, Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital in Castor or Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.
Other services at the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre are not impacted by this temporary closure.
If local coverage is secured, ED service will be restored.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) is grateful for the support of staff and physicians who have helped minimize the temporary disruption as much as possible. Additionally, AHS appreciates the support of surrounding healthcare centres and would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding.
