October is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre (CACAC) has partnered with Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) to raise awareness around the issue.
To spread awareness, the advocacy centre is encouraging Central Albertans to find ways to “Go Blue,” today (Oct. 24).
The simplest way is to wear blue, take a picture, and post it using #GoBlueAB.
The community of Capstone in Red Deer, the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre at RDP, and the Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence will also be blue in recognition.
Throughout the month, RDP Athletics and the CACAC placed stickers on every third chair of the bleachers in the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre to represent 1-in-3 Canadians who have experienced some form of child abuse.

Together, RDP and CACAC are dedicated to strengthening, education, prevention, and response to child abuse and trauma.”
The advocacy centre is hosting a Go Blue Open House at the Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence today (Oct. 24) from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The Open House is an all-ages event, with activities and games throughout the building.
