Estevan police are investigating multiple incidents from the weekend, including a hit-and-run, the arrest of an impaired driver, and the seizure of firearms following a well-being check.

On Oct. 21, a hit-and-run occurred in the parking lot of a grocery store in north Estevan, causing extensive damage. The matter remains under investigation.

Police attended two separate areas regarding suspicious persons in the vicinity, but neither individual was located.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a possible impaired driver in central Estevan. The driver was located and found to be sober.

In another incident, police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the Bienfait Grid Road near Kensington Avenue early in the morning. The vehicle was located with two occupants inside. The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was intoxicated and refused to provide a breath sample for a roadside screening. She was arrested and lodged in cells at the Estevan Police Service until sober. The passenger, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on outstanding warrants and also held in custody. Both occupants were issued tickets for having open alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Police also responded to a complaint of a man sleeping in a car in the 700 block of 7th Street. The man, who was trespassing, was removed from the property without incident.

On Oct. 22, police attended a health facility in north-central Estevan after receiving a report of a man refusing to leave. The man eventually left without further issue following discussions with police.

EPS also received a report of a vehicle passing a school bus while its stop arm was extended and lights were flashing. The matter is under investigation, and police remind the public to be mindful of school bus traffic laws.

On Oct. 23, police responded to a report of a possible break-in at a vacant apartment. A search was conducted, but no individuals were located.

Police later conducted a well-being check on a local woman, who was found safe at her residence. That same day, officers were dispatched to an east-central Estevan residence for a man in possible emotional distress. The 42-year-old Estevan man was taken to hospital for further assessment. Following the situation, a search warrant was obtained, and a search of the residence led to the seizure of multiple firearms and ammunition. The matter remains under investigation.
