The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins had their points streak ended over the weekend after a pair of close losses were handed out.
The Bruins were unable to beat the Melfort Mustangs at home on Friday, losing 4-3. Then they were on the road and faced off against the Melville Millionaires on Saturday, also losing that game 4-3.
Head Coach Jason Tatarnic says both games saw some good effort from the Bruins.
"Thought Friday was an interesting game with all the penalty situations, but really, in both games, we fought our way to tie the game back late in the third period and we let slip away both times. So I'd say it's disappointing, it's something we got to learn to fix for sure."
"We gave away a point in each of those games, you know, we could have been overtime and we could have had two points after this week for sure. Maybe could've had another point after. So it's just one of those things where you have to manage the game and lock up that point and something that we didn't do."
After a 7-2 and 4-2 loss earlier in the season against Melville, Tatarnic says that the team is still a good competitor.
" I thought over three games, two of them are real close type games that we could have won, and obviously they definitely deserve the win the one game at home. So I know they're a good hockey team, but we feel we can bea pretty good hockey team too, but we got to fix some areas."
Coming out of the month of October with a 5-3 record, Tatarnic feels they've got a solid foundation to face the rest of the season.
"It's just building blocks every day. We'll be heading into November and every game is tough, like every team is pretty good in our league this year, so you know, we have to be ready and prepared for how we'll reply."
