Saskatchewan Party MLA Doug Steele will be re-elected in the Cypress Hills riding.
With 38 of 39 polls reporting, the incumbent's 5678 votes indicate another dominant victory. That's an improvement from 65% of the vote in 2020 to unofficially 75% this time around.
"It's hard to describe how it makes you feel," Steele shared. "They're amazing people to represent and I'm pretty fortunate to do that.
"That endorsement that I received tonight for another four-year term is very much appreciated."
Clare McNab of the NDP improved their fortune in the riding from 681 votes in 2020 to 1307 this year.
Doug Wilson of the Buffalo Party has 468 votes.
Steele intends to advocate for Cypress Hills when he returns to the legislature.
"We understand it's a big undertaking to govern a province," he said. "We just want to be acknowledged. We have things we need in our constituency and community. We don't want to be forgotten, and we don't expect any more than we possibly deserve out of the whole big picture."
It's a much closer election this time around, and Steele knows some of his colleagues won't be joining him in Regina.
"It grabs a piece of your heart when you see folks that you've worked with for a number of years," Steele noted. "They're trying to do what I try to do for our communities, but that's part of politics. We'll see where we're at when it shakes down at the end of the evening."
Steele was first elected in 2016 and re-elected again in 2020.
