The dust has settled, and the First Preliminary Count of the 2024 Saskatchewan General Election are in for Moose Jaw North.
The voters chose the Saskatchewan Party’s Tim McLeod, who swept the riding with 4,350 votes compared to Cheantelle Fisher and the NDP’s 2,761, securing McLeod’s reelection for a second term.
We spoke with McLeod to get his thoughts upon getting the results.
“We’re feeling pretty good. It’s been a long campaign, and these campaigns always feel like a battle, so everybody’s a little bit exhausted but really happy with the end results here in Moose Jaw.” said McLeod.
“(I’m) excited to get back to Regina and go to work for the people of Moose Jaw North, and I’m really excited to be bringing Megan Patterson along with me representing Wakamow.”
McLeod spoke about the mood inside the Saskatchewan Party’s campaign headquarters during the night of the election.
“It was quite celebratory, I would say, with Blaine McLeod’s being declared fairly early on by a substantial margin. We were really proud of him and the campaign that he and his team ran, and then when the Moose Jaw results were finally reported, Megan and I were equally excited.”
We asked McLeod what is next for him and his team now that the campaign has come to a close.
“We've been spending the day so far today with our volunteers running around picking up lawn signs and making sure that we tidy up business in terms of the campaign we've closed up the campaign office already this morning,”
“So, it'll be just a day of clean up on the campaign side and then absolutely get right back to work representing the people in Moose Jaw North, and I'm honored to do that.”
Before returning to the post-campaign housekeeping McLeod had this to say to the people of Moose Jaw and all his constituents.
“I'd really like to just extend my sincere thanks to the people of Moose Jaw North for giving me the honor of representing them one more time. I'm excited to go back to work for them and on their behalf, and really excited to be doing that with a colleague from Moose Jaw Wakamow as well.”
