There have been more than 20 closures of the emergency room at the Marian Health Centre in Radville since the start of July. Town officials have spoken of their frustration with the issue, with Mayor Rene Bourassa noting he has spoken with a physician who is willing to relocate to the community, but there is a dispute as to whether she can be offered a contract for the community.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority has stated there is a physician scheduled to begin work in the community in February upon the completion of the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment program. Additionally, they have stated the staff in Radville are being trained on the virtual physician program, which is expected to launch this fall.
