South West and area residents are invited to “Pack the Plex” on Friday, November 1, as the Swift Current Homehardware Legionnaires face off against the Saskatoon Blazers to support the Southwest Facility Foundation (SWFF). With an affordable $10 admission for both adults and children, the game promises to be an exciting event for the whole family. The puck drop is set for 8 p.m. at the InnovationPlex.
The event, organized by the SWFF and the Legionnaires, aims to rally community support for the foundation’s projects and includes the debut of the new “Buy a Classroom” initiative, which gives students a chance to attend the game while also contributing to facility funding.
“We’re thrilled to see the community and businesses get involved,” said Travis Cuthbert, vice president of the SWFF. “We’re currently at $2.3 million in committed funding and look forward to seeing even more support.”
To make the night even more engaging, attendees who arrive wearing jerseys, team outfits, or clothing with school logos can enter a draw for special prizes donated by local businesses. The evening also features door prizes and other giveaways, making it a memorable event for all ages.
Legionnaires assistant coach Clint Weston emphasized the dual purpose of the game, encouraging fans to show up in support of both the team and the foundation’s efforts.
Joining the Legionnaires in this game are several talented players from across west central Saskatchewan, including Keegan Nash from Eston, Triston Mitchell-Mcelhone from Flaxcombe, Porter Nickason from Elrose, and Jake Hargrave from Lucky Lake.
