On Oct. 28, around midnight the Wetaskiwin RCMP responded to a 911 call of male that had been stabbed at a residence in Wetaskiwin . 

When officers arrived on scene, they called for a high priority response from EMS.

While officers were applying pressure to the stab wound, the fell unconscious and stopped breathing.

Officers started CPR on the victim, who then regained consciousness.

Due to the victims deteriorating condition, police suspected he would not survive the wait for EMS and as a result, transported the victim to hospital themselves.

Upon arrival at Wetaskiwin Hospital, medical staff immediately called for STARS, who attended and transported the victim to an Edmonton hospital.

The victim remains in hospital in stable condition.

The suspect has been identified as Nicholas Morin, a 28-year-old resident of Maskwacis.

Morin has been charged and is currently wanted for:

  • Aggravated Assault;
  • Disobeying a court order;
  • Fail to comply with release conditions (x2).

He is described as:

  • Medium completion;
  • 5 feet 9 inches tall;
  • 243 pounds;
  • Brown eyes;
  • Black hair.
