What started as a regular week for Eckville local, Barbara Olsen turned out to be anything but ordinary.

Olsen purchased her weekly Lotto Max and Extra ticket, and checked the numbers after the draw, like usual, but this time she won $250,000 on the Sept. 13 Extra draw.

“I got so excited and showed my brother,” she said. “I waited a while to validate it in-store until the retailer I purchased it from was there to do it with me.”

Olsen said she already has some ideas for how to spend her windfall.

“I’m planning to donate to the local museum that is being renovated. It used to be the first hospital here in Eckville,” she said. “I’m also going to trade in my car for a new one.”

Olsen purchased the winning ticket from the Co-op Food Store in Eckville.
