The Saskatchewan Roughriders are getting healthy at the right time of the year as they are set to begin their playoff push when they host the BC Lions in the Western Divisional Semifinal at Mosaic Stadium on Saturday.
One day ahead of the playoff clash, the Roughriders released their depth chart.
After missing last week’s game against the Calgary Stampeders since Saskatchewan’s playoff fate was already determined, defensive back Rolan Milligan Jr, running back AJ Ouellette wide receivers Samuel Emilus and Keesean Johnson, and linebacker Adam Auclair will be back.
Along with Ouellette, Ryquell Armstead will suit up at running back, marking the first time the Roughriders will have Ouellette and Armstead in the lineup at the same time.
Peter Godber will be back on the roster after missing the last six games with an ankle injury. He will dress the team’s sixth offensive lineman, with Logan Ferland remaining at centre.
The one notable absence from Saskatchewan’s lineup is defensive lineman Anthony Lanier II.
Saturday’s matchup will mark the first time the Roughriders and Lions will meet in the postseason since 2013 when the green and white defeated the Lions 29-25 in the Western semifinal.
During the 2024 regular season, the Roughriders and Lions split their two matchups, with the home team coming out on top in both contests. On July 13, BC defeated Saskatchewan 35-20, and the Roughriders beat the Lions 39-8 on October 12.
Both starting quarterbacks were absent during their losses to the opposition in the regular season. Saskatchewan’s Trevor Harris missed the game in BC due to an early season knee injury, while Vernon Adams Jr was the backup quarterback when the Lions visited Mosaic Stadium as Nathan Rourke received the start that night.
The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to the Western Final, next Saturday (Nov.9) in Winnipeg against the Blue Bombers.
