The Estevan Police Service was busy with a handful of calls which came in over the spookiest night of the year.
EPS officers found themselves in North Central Estevan after a report of a man in mare feet wrapped in a blanket in the area. Following a few patrols in the area, members were unable to find anyone matching the description.
A North Estevan motel was also attended to following a report of a male who entered and began causing a disturbance. After being located, the male was spoken to by police and warned of his actions.
Members also learned of a hit-and-run collision that occurred in South Central Estevan which resulted in minor damage. The incident is still under investigation.
Members arrested a 62-year-old Estevan man who was charged with Assault and Uttering Threats after a confrontation which occurred near the victim’s residence. He was released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on January 13.
Over Halloween evening, police received a report of a suspicious person in a semi on the east side of the city. Members attended and spoke with the individual in question and determined nothing criminal was occurring.
A 2-vehicle collision on the 600 block of George Street saw a police response when a driver of a westbound vehicle struck a parked car after experiencing a minor medical issue. While both vehicles had to be towed from the scene no injuries were reported.
The RCMP sent out a request for assistance to the EPS after a single-vehicle rollover south of Estevan. When officers arrived the vehicle was found on its roof with no occupants inside. Estevan Fire, RCMP, EPS and EMS conducted a search for possible injured victims. Upon further investigation, they found that the vehicle was reported as stolen from a residence in Estevan. The matter remains under investigation.
