October saw leaves on the southeast's trees brown up, but conditions as seen by Environment Canada show that much of the month wasn't very autumn-like.
The full picture as seen by Environment Canada describes an October well above seasonal temperatures and below-average rainfall.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Danielle Desjardins has more on the unseasonable heat which delayed fall weather in the southeast.
"Temperatures were above normal again for the month of October. Not quite as much as the deviation from September, on average one to three degrees above normal for the month, but nonetheless still very warm and very dry for the month of October."
The dryness for October was pronounced, with Desjardins saying that the whole month saw a lot less rain than usual.
"Most stations actually recorded 33 per cent of their normal precipitation for October or less. So it was fairly dry. So for Estevan, for example, only 15% of the normal precipitation fell, so it was the 15th driest year for Estevan. So 4.1mm and normally it's 28mm."
The warm weather and lack of moisture also kept Estevan from seeing it's first snow of the season in October.
