The North Red Deer River Regional Water Services Commission is advancing their waterline extension project that will provide a reliable source of drinking water to Ermineskin Cree Nation, near Maskwacis, from Ponoka.

On Monday, the Water Commission reached a key milestone with the selection of a dedicated project management team to oversee the project’s progress from planning through completion.

“Our top priority is a safe, assured drinking water supply for our current and future members in the region,” said Grant Creasey, Chairman of the North Red Deer River Water Services Commission. “Today’s milestone sets the stage for an efficient, collaborative process over the next 36 to 48 months. With our partners we are committed to completing this project on time and to the highest standards of quality.”

As the project advances, the Commission says it will continue to work closely with the Ermineskin Cree Nation, and the project funding agencies which include Alberta Indigenous Relations, Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors and local stakeholders, ensuring open communication and alignment with community priorities.
