A 24-year-old man faces several charges following an incident that occurred Nov. 2, 2024.

Drayton Valley RCMP assisted by officers from Rocky Mountain House Detachment, entered into an investigation of a flight from police after an attempted traffic stop for dangerous driving on Highway 620 in Brazeau County.

The vehicle involved, was later discovered to have been stolen and had been reported by witnesses as tailgating and driving at excess of speeds of 150 km/hr. 

During the course of the investigation, the vehicle was abandoned and the driver was observed attempting to flee from officers into a wooded area. 

Numerous police resources including the K Division Police Dog Services and the K Division Emergency Response Team were deployed to the scene.

As a result of this incident, RCMP arrested the driver, Shayde Beaverbone, a 24-year-old resident of Hinton, Alta.  

Beaverbone has been charged with:

Dangerous driving;
Fail to stop for a police officer;
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
Possession of a prohibited weapon & several other firearms-related offences.
Resist arrest /obstruct a Peace Officer.
 
Beaverbone appeared in court on Nov. 5, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Drayton Valley.
