On Nov. 1, 2024, students from École Secondaire Lacombe Composite High School were recognized at the 35th annual Alberta Science and Technology (ASTech) Awards Gala in Edmonton.

Stijn Tans, Wakefield Roadhouse, Judah Boyko, and Eugene Malabuyoc were celebrated for their innovative BeeWise hive monitoring system, developed to promote sustainable beekeeping practices.

The BeeWise project was made possible through MindFuel’s Tech Futures Challenge, which encourages students to address real-world environmental issues through science and technology.
