Estevan saw a small amount of snow which quickly melted, which just left water that could freeze and cause slippery conditions.

Estevan saw its first bit of snow overnight, though anyone who woke up this morning likely only saw wet and cold ground.

The larger system mainly impacted western regions, with a few highways near Swift Current even closing down temporarily.

The southeast made out a lot better with Environment Canada Meteorologist Stephen Berg giving the totals.

"Saw about anywhere from about two to five millimetres of rain or water equivalent because of a bit of snow that fell as well in the last little bit. Moose Jaw had a little bit more, maybe about 6mm of the water equivalent. But yeah, that's kind of the general story for the southeast."

It was the more central and western regions of the province which saw the more significant snowfall.

"The Moose Jaw area and west, anywhere from about two to four centimetres. In the vicinity of Cypress Hills, but also Cypress Hills got anywhere from 10 to 15 centimetres or more up top on the hills. They had quite a pattern where, given its cooler aloft," said Berg, "Snow started falling much faster, and then with some wind patterns they ended up getting quite a bit more on the hills than they did in places, say Shaunavon or Maple Creek."

That resulted in highway trouble along the western edges of the province, with some possible troubles also popping up here according to Berg.

"With the near 0 temperatures as well having some snow melting and refreezing and whatnot, roads certainly could be quite ice-covered with that. I guess in your neck of the woods temperatures slightly below 0 with some melt and refreezing as well, so that might be a little bit of treacherous driving conditions for your area as well.

The good news is that the southeast will stay clear for the future, with some surprise heat also coming in this week.

"For the next little while, actually, it looks like quite a temperature spike for daytime highs from tomorrow till about Monday, temperatures to be in the upper single digits, maybe even into the low double digits for the weekend," said Berg. "High of 11° on Saturday, which is about 8° above normal, so looks to be quite a nice pleasant weekend, although Sunday might be a bit windy."
