The Estevan Comprehensive School is hosting their annual career fair tomorrow, showing off some of the ways students might spend their time once they're done high school.
A number of displays will be set up from 5 to 7:30 p.m., encompassing post-secondary schools, businesses, and industries looking to attract fresh blood.
Ashley Cote, a career development officer with ECS, talks about the event and what it's bringing for students in the southeast.
"Right now we have about 67 presenters that will be in attendance and these booths will range from post-secondary schools. So we'll have quite a few from Saskatchewan like U of R, U of S, Polytech, and Southeast College. But we'll also have schools from out of province like U of A, U of C, and Brandon University to name a few."
"We'll also have many tables that are local businesses and industry partners. So there's really something for everyone. Many postsecondary schools, but also a lot for students who want to enter the workforce right after graduation."
This year they've moved the event to the gymnasium, which means they're able to host more presenters and have a larger event compared to previous years.
Cote believes that the event is crucial to help students learn what path best suits them.
"Whether you're in grade 9 or all the way through 12, it's just a place where there's so many different booths to check out to try to expand the ideas you have for what you could do after high school."
"Just as an example, we often think about going into things that we can see. So if we think healthcare, we might think about our nurses and doctors, but a student might stop by this Saskatchewan Health Authority booth and realize that there are so many other options within healthcare. So I think it just expands student's horizons or expands their idea of what's out there.
