The Innisfail RCMP, Alberta Sheriffs Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods, and multiple RCMP units shut down three suspected drug houses in Innisfail on Tuesday.

The Innisfail RCMP in collaboration with the Alberta Sheriffs Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) were investigating drug trafficking within the town of Innisfail.   

On Nov. 5, the Innisfail RCMP with assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Team, Sheriff SCAN Team, Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, and the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team executed search warrants at three Innisfail residences.   

12 people were arrested during the search warrants.  

  As a result of the search RCMP seized:  

  • Cocaine;  

  • Methamphetamine;  

  • Items related to the sale of controlled drugs;  

  • Taser.  

 Nicolas Caron a 38-year-old resident of Innisfail has been arrested and charged with unlawful possession of items intending to be used for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance.  

Caron was taken before a Justice of Peace and released with his next court date set for Nov. 18, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.  

A 46-year-old male and 38-year-old female, both residents of Innisfail have charges pending for unlawful possession of items intending to be used for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance  

Both have been released to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Dec. 17.  

A 45-year-old female resident of Innisfail has charges pending for possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.  

She has been released to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Dec. 17.  

The remainder of the persons arrested were released pending further police investigation.  

“These individuals and properties were actively engaged in the distribution of drugs in the community. This joint effort was successful in interrupting them in the short term and we will work to ensure longer-term solutions,” said Ian Ihme, Staff Sergeant Detachment Commander Innisfail RCMP.  

“The newly created central Alberta SCAN team’s close collaboration with law enforcement partners like the Innisfail RCMP detachment on this operation is making Alberta communities significantly safer. This work not only eradicates illegal activity but also gives Albertans well-deserved peace of mind,” said Mike Letourneau, superintendent, of Alberta Sheriffs.
