The Town of Olds has announced the sale of the current administrative office building to Westview Co-op following formal approval at the council meeting on November 1, 2024.
With an expected move date of spring 2025, the Town’s administrative staff will be relocated to the Town Operations Centre at 3501-70 Avenue, on the northwest side of town.
In a news release, the town says moving administration to this newer facility will allow the municipality to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and streamline customer service.
The Operations Centre currently houses staff from the Operations and Parks and Recreation departments.
“This move is part of a long-term plan to reduce administrative costs, improve efficiency in our core operations, and to enable long-term plans for other Town facilities,” explains CAO Brent Williams. “By relocating, we are also enabling Westview Co-op to keep their head office in Olds, employing people, and helping drive our local economy for years to come.”
Renovations will be required to adapt the Operation Centre for this move.
Earlier in 2024, five construction companies were pre-qualified for the project and the Request for Proposals (RFP) closes in mid-November.
“We are excited to centralize the core functions in the newer building,” said Mayor Judy Dahl. “Combining two underutilized spaces ensures responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars and makes it more convenient for the people of Olds to access Town services.”
Further details will be released once the RFP process concludes.
