Sylvan Lake's Lakeway Landing Storm Pond Rotenone application is complete.
The treatment is used to remove goldfish and eggs from the pond. A second treatment of Rotenone was scheduled to take place on October 15.
The town says the last pond water test showed that the Rotenone concentration is below the detectable limit and they have received approval from Alberta Environment and Protected Areas that it is now safe to open the flow of the pond water into the stormwater system.
Over the next couple of days, staff will be on site removing the fencing and plugs.
Heavy equipment is required for this work. Repairs to any minor rutting caused by the equipment will be completed in the spring.
